Tips on looking after your heart health this Valentine’s Day!

Tips on looking after your heart health this Valentine’s Day!

We’re all aware of the importance of taking good care of our heart health, but it can be difficult to know how. Most cases of cardiovascular disease are preventable which means no matter our age, we all need to think about looking after our heart health.

We all know that by making a just a few small changes to our lives, we can live longer, better and healthier lives. It’s about saying to yourself and the people you care about – what can I do to look after my heart….and your heart.

From a heart healthy diet to staying active and tackling stress, here are some simple changes you can make to start taking care of your heart health:

East Less Salt
Cut back on Sugar
Keep saturated fat to a minimum
Get your five a day
Quit Smoking
Stay Active
Keep your weight healthy
Drink alcohol in moderation

Heart related disease now accounts for 29% of all specified illness claims for males and 12% for females in Ireland. According to the world health organisation this number is growing.

This is an ideal time of year to visit your doctor for a check-up, review your eating habits and explore the options available to you by putting in place some specified illness cover. This cover will pay you a cash lump sum if you are diagnosed with one of the many illnesses covered. Cancer, Stroke and Heart Disease now make up over 80% of all specified illness claims in Ireland.

The financial effects of suffering a serious illness can be devastating. It’s difficult to know just how we would cope in terms of continuing to provide for our family and loved ones in the absence of specified illness cover.

The claims experience under specified illness cover is continuing to rise and this had led to increases in costs over the past 12 months. Further increases cannot be ruled out and just like all forms of protection, cover increase in cost as you get older and specified illness cover is no different. The longer you leave it, the more it will cost and putting in place cover of one times your annual salary is well within your budget.

To help you celebrate minding your heart health this St. Valentine’s Day, we at CMCC Financial Solutions are discounting specified illness cover by 10% until the end of March 2020.
